Melton Angling is a Data Controller registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.

Keeping your personal data safe is very important to us. We are committed to complying with privacy and data protection laws and being transparent about how we process personal data.

We have policies, procedures and training in place to help our employees understand their data protection responsibilities and follow the data protection principles.

How We Collect Your Personal Data

We may collect your personal data in different ways, for example:

  • When you place a product order in store.
  • When you place a product order via our website.
  • When you sign up to our loyalty scheme.
  • When you book onto one of our fishing events.
  • When you arrange finance with our finance partner V12 in store or via our website.

Your data collection happens at the “front end” of our website and is securely sent to our providers database for storage. Your data is retrieved from the database storage and securely passed to the website “front end” for you to view. Our provider, Intelligent Retail, hosts websites on webs servers and stores data on secure databases hosted by their provider Rackspace and is held within the EU.

Your Consent

We will not market products, events or information to you without your express consent.

You can give your consent via an opt-in method. Your consent will not be a precondition of a service and will allow you to differentiate between the different consent purposes. For example, you will be able to opt-in to receiving updates for angling and shop events, and choose not to opt-in to receiving product offers. Sharing Your Personal Data

We will only share your personal information where: we are required to fulfil our contract with you; have a legitimate interest; where we have your consent; or we are required to do so by law.

We may share your information with third parties, such as, but not exclusively: WorldPay (to process your payment), PayPal, V12 Finance (should you choose to arrange finance) and our courier partners. Data is passed to these third parties using secure, encrypted connections.

We do not transfer any personal data outside of the EEA.

How Long Will We Keep Your Personal Data

We will hold your personal data for as long as necessary. We will not retain your personal data if it is no longer required. In certain situations, we may be legally required to retain your personal data, for example for finance or audit purposes.

Your IP information, which is not stored alongside your personal data, is removed after seven days.

Your personal data, such as your name and contact details are stored, with your permission, on a secure encrypted server. Procedures are in place to handle any suspected personal data breech. We will notify you and the appropriate regulator where we are legally required to do so should a breach occur.

Please note that we are within our rights to charge a reasonable fee should a request for information be manifestly unfounded or excessive, particularly if it is repetitive. Should you wish to rectify or erase your data, we will honour your request to do so. Again, this will be completed within a month of your request.
